Former Solomons PM loses appeal to High Court to have sentence annulled

The High Court of Solomon Islands has dismissed an appeal by former Prime Minister, Sir Allan Kemakeza, to have his jail sentence lifted.

Sir Allan, who is now the forestry minister, faces the possibility of two months in jail after the High Court dismissed his appeal and upheld a magistrates court conviction on made in December last year.

Sir Allan who the magistrate's court found guilty of demanding money with menaces, has been out on bail pending his appeal to the High Court

Sir Allan says he is considering an appeal to the Appeals Court.
