Solomons PM talks up Temotu

7:35 pm on 16 September 2008

Solomon Islands Prime Minister Dr. Derek Sikua says the province of Temotu has a lot of unique features which can help its development.

The Prime Minister has been in Lata, the remote province's capital, for the Premiers' conference and to open the first ever trade show there.

Launching the trade show he said he was greatly honoured to be the first Solomons Prime Minister to visit Temotu.

Temotu is a thousand kilometres from Honiara but Dr Sikua says it has comparative advantages that can foster development.

He says its unique fruits, marine resources, rich history and culture and its untouched environment can be tapped for export and tourism.
