Two months after the close of the 10th Festival of Pacific Arts, the organiziing committee in American Samoa has still not been able to pay all bills and close the festival books.

Co chairman of the Arts Festival Board Fagafaga Daniel LAngkilde told a Senate hearing Friday that the reason why they can't close the books is that bills keep popping up everday.

He told the hearing that according to the festival board's latest financial report, the total amount spent on the 8 day festival was $4.6 million - $1.8 million more than what the festival organizers raised in government financial assistance, corporate and individual contributions, and federal funds.

The committee is seeking $1.5 million in suplemental funding from the territorial government.
