Solomon Islands to see heroes profiled online

2:36 pm on 1 October 2008

Solomon Islands is being given the chance to showcase its heroes as part of an international video campaign striving to change the world.

The project, being run by Canadian non-profit organisation, Sawa Global, aims give a voice to 100 heroes from the world's poorest countries, by conveying how they have changed their communities through positive action.

The 50 chosen countries will create a short documentary on each selected hero, which will feature as an individual profile on Sawa Global's website.

The founder of the company, Daphne Nederhorst, says the purpose is to inspire others to participate.

"On the profile it has all these simple actions that they have identified on how they want to increase their project success. People around the world can see those profiles and then can become a Sawa mentor of that project, and help them with the specific actions identified."

Daphne Nederhorst will be running a workshop at Solomon Islands College of Higher Education tomorrow, to get them on board the project.
