Uncertainty continues to surround newly elected Vanuatu Government

It is still not certain that a vote of no confidence in the newly elected Vanuatu Government of Edward Natapei will go ahead.

The Opposition led by Maxime Carlot Korman has lodged a motion, claiming the backing of a majority of the 52 MPs.

And Parliament, according to the Daily Post newspaper, is due to meet on Friday to debate the motion.

But our correspondent says the UMP Party is now understood to have defected from the Opposition to the Government, restoring Mr Natapei's majority.
