A former chief executive of Samoa's state owned television company, Tuiasau Leota Uelese Petaia, is facing 68 theft charges.

The offences occurred while Tuiasau was running his privately owned LAU TV company, which has since been forced closed down.

As well as the television companies, the defendant has been a vice president of the Pacific Islands News Association and editor of Samoa's only daily newspaper.
