A mini dam is currently being considered in Fiji's Namosi province to provide electricity to hundreds of villagers.

Tui Namosi Ratu Suliano Matanitobua has told Fijilive that construction of the dam is expected to take place sometime this year.

Ratu Suli said that the dam is expected to be built with the help of an overseas investor and a local investor who have shown interest in the project.

The dam is expected to be constructed along the head waters of the Navua River.

The chief declined to name the investors, saying this would be done once the project got off the ground.

Ratu Suli also said that the cost of the dam could not be revealed as yet, saying it was "too early" to disclose such information.
