Plans to build a UN Inter-Agency Climate Change Centre for the Pacific
to do research and development on climate change are progressing in Samoa.
The government has allocated the area for development to be situated next to the Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment offices, near Apia.
Samoa's Minister of Natural Resources and the Environment Faumuina Tiatia Liuga says setting up the centre there will also help to prioritise the needs of countries and territories in the region.
"The government of Samoa has already allocated 16 acres of land"
not only to accommodate the climate change hub but also to house the
UN family.
