12:43 pm on 17 October 2008

Several senior reporters in Samoa covering the Commission of Inquiry hearing into the alleged smuggling of firearms from American Samoa are expecting a decision today from the Attorney General, Aumua Ming Leung Wai, on whether the findings of a special investigation can be published.

The media has been advised of certain restrictions relating to some information and the names of some of the people involved in the inquiry.

Reporters have also been told to report only from media releases prepared by the commission's legal team.

Meanwhile an investigator and special agent from the American Samoa police will be giving evidence today.
