The Secretariat of the Pacific Community is holding a regional workshop in Fiji this week to improve planning around the use of land and managing natural resources.

The aim is to consider different land planning experiences in the region and to identify the most suitable way for the development of generic land use planning guidelines.

In a press release the SPC says the focus is on identifying sustainable and equitable land use opportunities, and balancing local needs with outside interests and national policies.

The two day workshop being organised by SPC Land Resources Division and the German Technical Cooperation GTZ will be held in Suva from October 21-22.
