Westpac Bank Fiji reassures customers their savings are secure

Westpac Bank's Fiji general manager, John Cashmore, has reassured its customers that their savings are secure with the Bank despite the financial crisis in the US.

Fiji Live reports that addressing the bank's corporate clients at a Diwali cocktail, Cashmore said there had been a lot of turmoil in the world over the last 12 months.

But he said Westpac was a strong bank.

He says he can can reassure customers that the bank is committed to customers and to Fiji as a whole, especially with the news and what's happened in the global market.

Cashmore revealed that the Australia Government had just recently reaffirmed its support for the Australian banks and guaranteed all retail and business deposits with the Australian banks for the next three years.
