Nine Fiji farmers win Development Bank awards

Nine Fiji farmers were recognised with awards in different categories of farming at the Fiji Development Bank Farmer of the Year Awards.

The Fiji Times says the categories included awards for excellence in vegetable, sheep, fish, bee, root crop, fruit and best rice farmer.

Overall the Best FDB Farmer was awarded to Mohammed Ghani of Nasealevu outside Labasa who farms cane, about 300 sheep along with vegetables and root crops.

The Labasa awards were being held for the first time and will also take place in other centres around the country.

The Northern Development Program trophy was given to Filipo Seru.
