The Premier of Niue has praised Miss Niue, Vanessa Marsh, for winning the 22nd Miss South Pacific Pageant.
The 23 year-old former Miss Teen Niue and Miss University of the South Pacific beat seven other contestants to take the title at the weekend event in Pago Pago, American Samoa.
Miss Marsh works as a fisheries officer for the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.
The Premier, Toke Talagi says it is an excellent win and says she will make a good ambassador for Niue.
"She's very talented, Vanessa. I'm very, very pleased indeed that people like her are prepared to stay at home despite the pool of brighter lights in New Zealand. She is very well qualified, she is very well spoken, and she's a very mature young person. I'm very, very pleased indeed."
Toke Talagi says Vanessa Marsh is a product of Niue and the country is very proud of her.
