Flour Mills of Fiji has removed a second silo at its factory over the weekend as a precautionary measure.

Last week, a silo containing split peas collapsed, claiming the life of a 23 year old office worker, at the FMF Walu Bay warehouse complex in Suva.

The Fiji Times reports the company chief executive officer, Sanjay Punja, as saying a third silo will be removed too.

Mr Punja says all three silos were of top standard and better than those in other countries because Fiji is prone to natural disasters.

However he says his top priority is the safety of his staff.
