Call for focused representation in Fiji's President's Political Forum

Fiji's SDL party wants the parties participating in discussion with the interim government cut to just those who were represented in the pre-coup government.

Last week 14 parties met with the interim Prime Minister, to discuss the agenda for the proposed President's Political Forum.

SDL's National director, Peceli Kinivuwai, says the next meeting, due to be held in December, should include only those who won significant representation in the 2006 election.

"These are the ones who should be brought to the fore, because some of the political parties were just formed recently, some don't have a significant following, to give justifications to their being represented, in the forum. The four major political parties who have a very significant following these are the ones who should be represented,"

Despite calling Monday's meeting a waste of time, Peceli Kinivuwai says his party will continue to be involved in the process.
