Archbishop of Church of Melanesia bestowed with Vanuatu's highest award

The Archbishop of the Church of Melanesia, Sir Ellison Pogo, has been bestowed with Vanuatu's highest award; the Badge of Honour.

Sir Ellison is among a select few to be awarded the country's most prestigious award in the form of a silver medallion as Member of the Order of Vanuatu.

The Solomon Star reports that Vanuatu's President, Prime Minister and government dignitaries, Church leaders, ecumenical partners as well as Anglican members witnessed the investiture at Tagabe Parish in Port Vila last night.

The award was in recognition for Sir Ellison's service to the Christian church and to Melanesian people in Vanuatu as Archbishop.

Sir Ellison is due to retire next month after having served as Bishop for the last 27 years, 14 years of which have been as Archbishop.

Recently he was awarded one of Anglican Communions highest award; Cross of St. Augustine by the Archbishop of Canterbury Dr. Rowan Williams in England for service he rendered to the Church.
