Sheraton Fiji Resort has reopened its doors following the completion of a six-month 22 million US dollar renovation.

In a statement, Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide said the re-opening of Sheraton Fiji Resort also underscored the aggressive growth and revitalisation of the brand's portfolio of resorts.

The Fiji Times reports the refurbishment project resulted in significant upgrades to guest accommodations, restaurants and bars, as well as the introduction of new recreational facilities.

The centrepiece of the resort is the nearly 13,000 square-foot, lagoon style swimming pool.

During the temporary closure, only small operational departments like finance, stores and laundry were still in operation, and Sheraton Fiji Resort employees transferred to the Villas & the Westin.

Some senior staff transferred overseas.
