Samoa endorses Fiji dialogue

2:50 pm on 6 November 2008

Samoa's Prime Minister, Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi, says the political dialogue process is the way forward for Fiji.

The Pacnews agency reports he has also committed Samoa's assistance and support to the consensus building process.

Tuilaepa made the comments after being briefed by Fiji's roving ambassador to the Pacific, Ross Ligairi.

He says that as a member of the Ministerial Contact Group, he's looking forward to further dialogue and discussions with Fiji, including the planned special session of the Forum leaders to be held in PNG later this year, or early next year.

Tuilaepa says regional matters can be best resolved by member countries.

Mr Ligairi told Tuilaepa that Fiji needs understanding and support from all its partners in the region and internationally.
