American Samoa leadership opts for change

2:03 pm on 25 November 2008

American Samoa's Governor, Togiola Tulafono, has announced he is setting up a Transition Task Force that will make recommendations on changes that his administration needs to make.

The task force will also recommend possible department heads for the various government agencies.

The governor said in his radio programme that there has not been a change in government since 1996 and he feels it necessary to review government operations and make changes where necessary.

He said the recent campaign brought out the need for reforms in government.

The governor said that the task force will recommend candidates for director positions and he would be calling for applications when it's time to make a selection.

Under local law all present serving directors must submit their resignations by the end of next month.
