American Samoa's Governor Togiola Tulafono is calling a special session of the Fono to begin next Monday and lasting for ten days.

Senators and Representatives were notified about the special session which was agreed to at a meeting of the governor, the President of the Senate and House Speaker last week.

On the agenda are the confirmation of nominees to Visitor's Bureau Board of Directors and the use of the unexpended portion of the 20 million US dollars that the government borrowed from the Retirement Fund

Fono staff members say with many lawmakers off island and with a large number of incumbent representatives losing their seats in the last general elections, there may not be a quorum.

The sitting lawmakers serve up to January the 3rd when new senators and representatives take office.

Veteran Fono members say this is the first time they can recall that a special session has been called after a general election.,
