9:18 am on 3 December 2008

For the first time, a contemporary Pacific art exhibition from New Zealand will be shown in an art museum in Asia.

Le Folauga features the work of sixteen New Zealand based Pacific artists and will be shown in Taiwan's Kaohsiung Fine Arts Museum from middle of this month until April 5th next year.

The exhibition's trust manager, Christina Jeffery, says the sixty pictures exhibited will all have a Pacific theme.

"The artists are all of Pacific heritage. Their work, sometimes it's obvious that they are from the Pacific, otherwise it would be difficult to tell if you just look at them. But the stories behind them, they relate to a Pacific theme."

Christina Jeffery says the artsworks include paintings and sculptures.
