8:03 pm on 8 December 2008

Samoa's Deputy Prime Minister, Misa Telefoni, is to meet with all fifteen hundred workers of the financially struggling company, Yasaki Samoa, and to brief them on a government assistance package approved by Cabinet over the week-end.

The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism and Trade says the human factor is the key matter in the crisis.

Misa says the morale of Yasaki employees must be kept up because any drop in efficiency and productivity would only aggravate the situation.

He says the company's management should ensure publicity is kept to a minimum while both sides are working their way through the crisis.

The deputy prime minister says the media will be fully briefed on the

situation, including the proposed government assistance after staff have been informed.
