Samoan man jailed for nine years for raping a student

The former employee of a school for students with disablilities in Samoa has been sentenced to nine years in prison for raping a 21 year old female student at the school.

Tanulole Peo was a bus driver at the school and the court heard how the offence took place in October 2006 after he picked up the victim from her home.

The chief judge, Patu Falefatu Sapolu, says the sentence against Peo has sent a clear message to the community that the court will not tolerate any form of sexual attacks on any person.
