Solomons' church schools will continue to charge fees

School under the Anglican Church of Melanesia Education Board will continue to charge normal fees despite the national Government's commitment to extend free education next year.

The Solomon Islands Broadcasting Corporation reports that principals say there are a lot of unanswered questions about the proposed free education plan.

The principals say the proposed allocation to be paid to the schools, based on student numbers, would be far less than what is currently imposed through the school fees.

They say the amounts will be inadequate to keep the schools operational for a full academic year.

And the principals say parents whose children attend the church schools must be prepared to invest in their children's futures by paying school fees.
