The New Year is starting off well in American Samoa with another drop in gasoline price and other petroleum products.

As of January 1st the new price index for gasoline dropped by 10 US cents per gallon.

The government's petroleum officer, Sione Kava, said the new average retail price for gas is expected to be US$2.28 per gallon.

Mr Kava said American Samoa continues to benefit from the drop in crude oil prices since last month and gas price will continue to decrease a bit.
