Fiji's interim Prime Minister has taken over yet another portfolio

Fiji's interim Prime Minister has taken over yet another portfolio, adding the sugar industry to his list of responsibilities.

Commodore Frank Bainimarama is not only the interim Prime Minister, head of the military and interim Finance Minister, but also the interim Foreign Minister.

In announcing the re-assignment, the Commodore Bainimarama, said he would like to drive and expedite the sugar industry reforms in an effort to ensure viability and sustainable survival of the industry.

He says he is specifically interested in the effective implementation of the recommendations of a recent review of the financial and operational viability of the Fiji Sugar Corporation.

Commodore Bainimarama says he is looking forward to working closely with all industry stakeholders.
