6 year old hit in head by stray bullet in Guam

A 6-year-old girl who was struck in the head by a stray bullet while watching fireworks on New Year's Eve is in stable condition at Guam Memorial Hospital.

Sergeant Richard Cress says the girl is scheduled for surgery to remove the bullet .

He says police suspect the bullet was fired upward as part of a New Year's Eve celebration.

Mr Cress says the police will try to match the bullet to a specific gun and track the owner.

He says the owner could be charged with aggravated assault.
