Two non Papua New Guineans have been recognised in the 2009 PNG New Years Honours List.
Australia's former prime minister, Bob Hawke, and Catholic Archbishop Karl Bernhard Hesse have been appointed Grand Companions of the Order of Logohu.
According to the Post Courier newspaper, the Head of the Logohu and Imperial Awards Committee Sir Frederick Reiher said Mr Hawke and Archbishop Hesse have been made PNG's special friends for 40 years of outstanding service to PNG.
