Cost of flour in Fiji drops

11:43 am on 9 January 2009

Fiji's prices of normal flour and sharp will decrease from today.

The Prices and Incomes Board says the local price of normal flour decreases by 15 cents per kilogram, while sharp price decreases by 14 cents per kilogram.

Its PIB secretary, Ane Naulivou, said the reduction in prices of flour was due to decreased costs of raw materials, which was now passed on to the local market.

But Ane Naulivou said the price movement remains vulnerable to the current weather conditions affecting wheat sowing and harvest.

The new prices were applicable in Suva, Lautoka, Ba, Lami, Nadi, Sigatoka, Tavua, Nausori, Nasinu - and areas within 5 kilometres from any post offices in Korovou, Navua and Rakiraki.
