Air Tahiti Nui drops direct Papeete-Sydney flights

Air Tahiti Nui has announced that in the face of the financial difficulties it will abandon its direct flights between French Polynesia and Sydney from March.

The airline will maintain its connection to Australia's east coast by flying the route via Auckland three times a week.

Four years ago, the airline bought a fifth Airbus to launch the direct Sydney flights when it also began its non-stop Papeete-New York service.
