Fiji interim PM wants better public service delivery

4:05 pm on 9 January 2009

Fiji's interim Prime Minister has called on the country's public service to improve its service delivery in 2009.

Commodore Frank Bainimarama, who is also the public service minister, spoke at the launch of a new initiative, aimed at better meeting the needs of the public and creating greater efficiency in the public service.

The Commodore says he has had correspondence, and heard in the news, how poor service delivery is in some vital sectors such as rural development, health, water supply, maintenance of law and order, environment, and the granting of permits and approvals.

He says he expects higher levels of achievement and implementation rate of approved projects and programmes from all Ministries.
