Samoa Packing in American Samoa is looking to hire 200 fish cleaners from Samoa for its local plant.

The Talamua online news service says the cannery has been recruiting for workers from Samoa.

Last year, close to 1,300 workers from Samoa were hired by the cannery.

Their travel is being handled by Manoifoa Salafai Travel Agency.

Chief Executive, Katie Moananu, says the attrition rate has been very low, with only six workers returning home last year.

For the past two years, Samoa Packing and Star Kist Samoa have been granted special worker permits for their employees from Samoa.

The guest worker permit system waives the usual immigration procedures for citizens of Samoa.
