Call for Solomons teachers to have pay docked if they fail to turn up for work on time

The Education Authority in Solomon Islands Central Province has been urged to discipline teachers who fail to turn up on time in their respective schools.

The call has come from the Deputy Principle of Polomu community High school, Charles Kunu, who says a large number of teachers have yet to report for work, despite the academic year getting underway a week ago.

Mr Kunu, a former Provincial Premier, such lateness to work jeopardises children's education and makes it difficult to get through the year's syllabus.

He told the Solomon Islands Broadcasting Corporation he would like teachers to have their salaries docked if they fail to turn up to work on time.
