Change of head for Vanuatu Correctional Services

12:19 pm on 27 January 2009

It's been confirmed that the acting director of the Vanuatu Correctional Services, Joshua Bong has been stepped down from his position and replaced by secretary of the Public Service Commission, Mark Bebe.

The Director-general of the Ministry of Justice, Joe Ligo, says Mr Bong's position had been revoked because the government's stand-in period had lapsed.

He says it's a wise decision to appoint a new director as a fresh look to cope with prisoners is needed.

Mr Ligo says roster changes have also occurred to other areas of the police force.
