A Tropical Cyclone Alert has been issued for Tonga's Vava'u, Ha'apai, Tongatapu and 'Eua groups.
The Tonga National Weather Forecasting Centre says a Tropical Depression formed over Tonga and curved southwards last night and is expected to turn towards the southwest later today .
On this forecast track the depression may bring damaging gale force winds to the Ha'apai group, Tongatapu and 'Eua in 24 hours.
