Several Pacific leaders are flying to Solomon Islands

Several Pacific leaders are flying to Solomon Islands today following the Pacific Islands Forum meeting in Papua New Guinea.

Those accompanying the New Zealand Prime Minister on his Air Force flight include the heads of government of Niue, Samoa, Tonga an Cook Islands.

Walter Zweifel reports from Port Moresby:

"The leaders will use the 6 hour stop over in Honiara to visit the headquarters of the regional assistance mission to Solomon Islands, whose work draws on support of police officers from throughout the Forum membership. For John Key the visit also includes a formal meeting with the Solomon Islands prime minister, Dr Derek Sikua as well as a courtesy call on the Governor General , Sir Nathaniel Waena."
