Former American Samoa Senate President appointed head of Development Bank

11:32 am on 30 January 2009

The former President of American Samoa's Senate, Lolo Letalu Moliga, has been appointed by Governor Togiola Tulafono as President of the Development Bank of American Samoa.

Lolo was a director of the Budget office in the Lutali government and was a chief Procurement officer during the Tauese and Togiola administration.

The appointment still needs the approval of the Senate.

Jason Betham has been acting president of DBAS since the resignation of former bank president Utu Abe Malae to run for governor last year.

The position was advertised and the board recommended Betham to be bank president.

However the governor never acted on the board's recommendation.
