Fiji met office says poor weather expected for neighbouring countries

The Fiji Metservice expects neighbouring countries will also feel the affects of poor weather being felt over Fiji following yesterday's trough associated to a cyclone which has now deteriorated.

Yesterday's bad weather resulted in a rain warning to the central and western areas of Viti Levu, which saw towns, including Navua and Suva, affected by flooding.

The Director at the Metservice, Rajendra Prasad, says although Fiji is gearing up for more rain this weekend, he says the same weather pressures are expected for surrounding regions.

"Not only Fiji are affected by this kind of system, the whole region including Fiji and to the west and northwest is fairly active now. We have Vanuatu being affected, about to be affected by rain bans and we have a circulation just south of the Solomon Islands, Papua New Guinea too, and in Tuvalu as well and northern Tonga."
