The Solomon Islands Home Affairs minister, James Tora, has declared 12 flood stricken areas on Guadalcanal Province a disaster area.
Mr Tora made the declaration under the Natural Disaster Council Act after weekend floods that left at least nine people dead.
The government has released 200,000 US dollars funds to help the victims.
Assistance has also been given by Australia.
