Papua New Guinea has donated nearly 600,000 US dollars to the Fiji interim Prime Minister's National Disaster Relief and Rehabilitation Fund for the victims of last month's floods.

PNG's High Commissioner in Fiji, Peter Eafeare, presented the cheque to interim Defence Minister Ratu Epeli Ganilau.

Ratu Epeli said the donation by PNG will go a long way in government's effort to carry out relief and rehabilitation work.

Earlier this week, the flood damage was put at 43 million US dollars.
