Meat imports into American Samoa can be uplifted from port from today

Three local supermarkets in American Samoa will finally be able to have their shipments of meat products from Australia and New Zealand released from the dock today.

Their meat orders arrived on January 18 but have been held up at the dock because there was no meat inspector to authorise the release of the shipments.

Meats from foreign countries have to be inspected by a US Department of Agriculture inspector however the local position has been empty since the middle of last month.
