Aid workers in Solomons Islands are working hard to prevent an outbreak of water-borne illnesses in the flood affected areas of Guadalcanal.
Thirteen people have been confirmed dead and seven people remain missing after the flooding earlier this month.
The Solomon Islands Red Cross estimates about 8000 people have been affected in the western parts of the province, while assessments are still being made in other areas.
The Red Cross technical advisor Katie Greenwood says most communities now have access to clean water, food and emergency items.
But she says aid workers are worried about the health threat and have started campaigning to warn people of the dangers.
"Health and hygiene messages; so to wash their hands make sure that they are using clean drinking water, to take care with their sanitation processes. Because most people that had drains previously, those drains have been destroyed. And some basic health messages around being careful with malaria and things like that."
