The Republic of Turkey, through its Embassy in Wellington, has donated 50,000 US dollars to the Fiji interim Government's Disaster Rehabilitation Fund set up following the flooding last month.

A Fiji statement says the donation is part of its humanitarian efforts to assist Government in rebuilding people's lives that have been affected by the recent floods.

Meanwhile, the Fiji interim Minister for Primary Industries, Joketani Cokanasiga, says about three million US dollars is needed to rehabilitate the agriculture sector.

He says the Ministry is fully committed to the rehabilitation, which will include; improvement to pastures, repairs to farm roads and buildings; drainage and river bank protection and the distribution of planting materials, seeds and seedlings.
