The Department of Public Safety in the Northern Marianas is bringing back bicycle patrols in Garapan to cut the Government's fuel bill.

Nine police officers and four Commonwealth Ports Authority police officers have been undergoing bike patrol training for the past week.

The officers go through a series of classes, including obstacle climbing and descending stairs, before getting the go ahead to patrol on bikes.
