The Solomon Islands Red Cross says the situation following last month's floods is improving.
More than eight-thousand people in the Guadalcanal province and west of Honiara began receiving food relief from the National Disaster Management Office this week.
The Government has approved about 1.4 million US dollars to help the estimated 64 thousand victims.
The Solomon Islands Red Cross Deputy Secretary General, Lorima Tuke, says people have been receiving sufficient medical care and non-food items.
"The situation up until now is beginning to settle down. People are beginning to come back to their normal sort of situation, with different activities, resilient sort of approach that people are taking."
Lorima Tuke says food has been the people's greatest need because their vegetable crops were washed away during the floods.
