Vanuatu's Deputy Police Commissioner suspended

Vanuatu's Deputy Police Commissioner, Arthur Caulton, has been suspended while he is under investigation over an assault complaint against him and his wife.

The Internal Investigation Office is looking into claims by a woman who works for the Vanuatu National Council for Women that she was assaulted by Mr Caulton and his wife.

The Minister of Police has suspended Mr Caulton until the investigation is complete.

No charges have been laid.
