Australian national investigated by Solomon Islands police and immigration

Police and immigration authorities in Solomon Islands are investigating an Australian national who has become embroiled in the media allegations against the Gold Ridge Mining Limited.

Julian Buxton King who was on contract to Gold Ridge Mine Limited is at the forefront of allegations against the mining company that its workers were poisoned by cynide.

Mr King who is believed to have a police record in Timor Leste is causing concern within the police.

Gold Ridge officials confirm Julian Buxton King's contract was terminated earlier in the year.

Police say his presence in the country raises questions about his immigration status.
