Fiji's interim Government plans to upgrade Taunovo Bay airstrip

Fiji's interim Government has plans to upgrade the Taunovo Bay airstrip near Deuba.

Interim Minister for Transport Timoci Natuva said widening the area might be a possibility.

Mr Natuva says the airstrip in Pacific Harbour has been there for quite a long time and never been used.

He says it's fortunate the Government is able to help in the construction and hopes history won't repeat itself.

Flights resumed last week after a 21-year lapse when the Korolevu airstrip closed in 1987.

Pacific Sun general manager Manoa Kamikamica told the Fiji Times they were pleased to offer daily flights to Taunovo from Nadi and Nausori.
