Solomon Islands tennis player loses

Solomon Islands top tennis player Michael Leong has been beaten in the first round of the Futures tournament in Wellington New Zealand

Leong whose also a member of the Pacific Islands Davis Cup team was beaten by New Zealand's Dan King-Turner 6-3 6-1.

King-Turner now takes on Australian eighth seed Rameez Junaid, a player who won week one of the series at North Harbour but was beaten by King-Turner in week two in Hamilton in the quarterfinals.

The other New Zealander Rubin Statham plays Japan's Yuichi Ito for a place in the quarterfinals.
