Cooks Mini Games CEO denies a financial shortfall for games

The Cook Islands mini games Chief Executive, Mac Mokoroa, has denied any financial shortfall for the event to be held on the main island Rarotonga in September.

There was an unconfirmed report that there was is shortfall of just over a million dollars US.

But Mr Mokoroa says there needs to be some cutbacks in order to keep within the budget.

He says he has had discussions with the Deputy Prime Minister, Dr Terepai Maoate, and it has been suggested that the committee table a proposal through the normal budgeting system.

"That means we will have to sit before the budget committee like every other government ministry and have our budget screened by the budget committee and table it in the next financial year"

Mr Mokoroa says because they've not been able to generate any sponsorhip from the region, they are looking at cutting down in that area.
